The perfect modern society. Bicycles everywhere, alternative energy sources, fighting for the middle class with higher taxes for the rich, great transport, great health care, English speaking people everywhere. Sounds like heaven. Denmark=Heaven.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?? What's with the iPhones and the iPads and the iMacs? Isn't the IT just a bit too much? I never though that people would want to be so busy all the time. An average ride on the metro takes what, 10 minutes? Perfect time to get a break, right? But no - you have to get your iPhone out, scroll scroll scroll, read a newspaper, take out your book/iPad/kindle/Mac. Are we so afraid of taking a break that we have to engage ourselves in all these activities. Since when sitting still and NOT doing anything is a waste of time? I guess it's not just Denmark, it's everywhere but Copenhagen is the perfect example. It is a perfect city when you look at it - with all the parks and the cycle routes but it is not so really. Most of the people are so immersed in getting information and then transferring it to someone else that they forget to take a break from reality and just relax. I didn't know that small talk could be a friendship maker until now. Isn't it a waste of time, energy, effort to talk so much and say so little. Over-sharing the tiniest details from your weekend is not making you any more cooler. At least that's what I thought. Silence is not your enemy. Better be silent if you don't have something meaningful to say. I was a silence lover and I've become to love it even more. Silence gives you time to relax, to think, to observe, to see. Small talk wastes your time. WHY would you want to talk about utterly uninteresting details of your day? Of course I don't include here making fun of funny stories, sharing strange and interesting stuff that happened.

I think people have become to be afraid of silence. You know, awkward silence and all. NO, that's not it. Awkward silence is one thing. FEAR of not talking and communicating information is another. Happiest people you said?? Some of them, maybe - those with the money and of course some actually happy people. As for the rest - if by happy you mean on happy pills or drunk then oh yes - these are the happiest people in the world. Getting anti depressants around here is like buying groceries. And if one of the whiskey kinds is 30 kr cheaper - then it gets fast and furious. You can immediately guess which whiskey was a bargain by looking at the empty wholes on the store shelfs, where it used to be. Happy people.

I want to make myself perfectly clear that I am not talking about ALL the people and I am not talking about only COPENHAGEN and DENMARK. This is probably happening everywhere. And it is only my PERSONAL OPINION but it seems to me that people are feeling pressed by all the information and STUFF that HAS to be bought, that they are afraid to stop for a second, afraid because they might not be able to catch up. It might be a bit extreme, but people are killing themselves because they feel powerless in trying to catch up with all the others. Because these others make it seem so important. And it's not really, is it?

Give yourself a break. Give others a break from you.

First impressions

So..almost 2 months in Denmark so far. Still in the process of adapting to the newness surrounding me. It's actually new and at the same time so old. There are not striking differences between what I used to know back in Bulgaria, but everything is just "more". The buses are more punctual, the people are more friendly and helpful (it is not a myth) , the city is more beautiful, the studying is just MORE :D..

I'm actually a little overwhelmed with all the studying going on. I want to do so much things, to explore, to learn about Copenhagen, about Denmark, I want to have more time to focus on my Danish lessons, but I just don't have that time to do it and I feel like one of those guys who just go somewhere and don't know exactly they're at. I need time but it doesn't seem like I'll be able to afford this luxury anytime soon. Even if someone asks me to tell him about the city, the life, I won't be able to tell much besides that I STUDY! I go out occasionally and went to see like the most commercial sights here but they're nothing compared to what it is out there to be seen.

I'm also missing my camera. I WANT IT NOW! I should've gotten it on the plane instead of some stupid jeans.. I want to save everything that I see right now, 'cause I'll get used to it and I won't see it as something new and exciting anymore. It'll be good idea to just close my eyes for 2 months (oohh my godd) until I get my camera.

I like it here. And every next day I like it more :)

At the Citadel in Cph :) Great place and great park! (with a little mermaid just nearby)
